Amusement Today honors the family that founded Silver Dollar City and the Country Music Superstar they partnered with for a park in Tennessee.
During their annual award ceremony this weekend, Pete and Jack Herschend are honored with the Golden Ticket Legends Award along side Dolly Parton, who teamed together to develop Dollywood, which is where the Saturday ceremony was held.
Jack and Pete Herschend along with their mother Mary Herschend began operating Marvel Cave in the 50's and eventually expanded it to develop Silver Dollar City in 1961, which has continued to be one of the top theme parks in the country. The Herschend's then followed that up by opening a park in Tennessee then, teaming up with Parton in 1986, to relaunched the park as Dollywood.
A link to the entire ceremony including comments by Pete and Jack Herschend and Dolly Parton can be found on the Amusement Today Facebook Page.
