The recent 4th of July Celebration kept a Lakes Area Fire District busy.
Western Taney County Fire Protection District Chief Chris Berndt tells Ozarks First that his department responded to multiply grass and brush fires as well as three house fires. The shooting of fireworks combined with dry conditions led to many of the fires. Berndt said this was the most calls his department got on the 4th of July in over 10 years.
One of the biggest blazes occurred north of Branson on Cannon Ball Loop where fireworks caused a fire destroying two houses and damaging several other buildings.
More information including a feature on one homeowner dealing with losing their home can be seen on the Ozarks First Website.
