A moment that would usually go unnoticed during a presentation led to a standing ovation during the presentation of the State of the City Address from Branson Mayor Larry Milton on Tuesday.
As Milton approached the podium, he got up out of his mobility chair to stand to deliver his address. This was one of the first times Milton has stood since the accident in his home last July that caused a severe spinal cord injury. Milton did not take part in city business in person from that time until December as he was rehabilitating. Milton has been using a mobility chair while he resumed his duties. Milton did sit after the opening prayer by Alderman Ruth Denham and the singing of the National Anthem by the College of the Ozarks Choir.
During his address, Milton outlined the progress the city has made highlighting the recent completion of the new Public Safety Facility and the completion of the Downtown Street Scape Project. Milton also discussed the ongoing Infrastructure Project and the upcoming year which includes the city’s role in helping the country celebrate its 250th Birthday.
A new flag for the City of Branson was also unveiled during the presentation and brought into the chamber by Alderman Marshall Howden.
The complete speech by Mayor Milton can be seen on the City of Branson Facebook Page.
