A local family is hoping to bring awareness to a disease which affects them personally with a special event.
The Yardley family has teamed up with the National Alopecia Areata Foundation to bring awareness for Alopecia Awareness Month to host a one mile Bubble Run on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. at the Crane School and will end with a big foam party thanks to Foam Force. Registration is $20 and does include a T-shirt. All proceeds will go to the Nation Alopecia Areata Foundation.
Shanda Yardley said her family life flipped upside down three years ago when they noticed bald spots on the head of their youngest daughter, Ellie. With red flags waving Shanda and her husband immediately took Ellie to the doctors, and after many tests and specialist visits, Ellie was diagnosed with alopecia.
