A man from Nixa will serve seven years in prison for his involvement in a traffic crash last year that resulted in the death of a passenger on his motorcycle.
Randy Buchanan of Nixa was the driver of the motorcycle that failed to negotiate a curve at the roundabout at the intersection of Highways 160, 13, and 248 on the night of July 2, 2025. A 51-year-old Nixa woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle died in the crash.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol at the time of the crash, the officer working the scene noticed the scent of alcohol and marijuana and Buchanan admitted to consumption. Further investigation showed that Buchanan was not licensed to operate a motorcycle.
Buchanan pled guilty to the charges with the plea agreement finalized and filed Tuesday in Stone County Circuit Court.
