New Reeds Spring Officials Take Office

Like many other political entities across the region, the City of Reeds Spring held its swearing in ceremony for new city officials this past week.

Unlike other cities, Reeds Spring had to make an appointment for Mayor after the election results were certified. Earlier this year, Rob Chamberlain had resigned from the mayor's position for health reasons with Jimmy Leach having been appointed to fill the role. However, Chamberlain's name was already on the ballot for reelection, running unopposed. Even though Leach ran a write-in campaign, Chamberlain still had the most votes.

During last week's meeting summarized by the Branson Tri-Lakes News, Chamberlain submitted a letter saying he would not accept the position following which the board voted Leach to take the position for the next year.

That was not the only appointment made that night as Paul O'Neil, who lost the Ward 1 Alderman Race to Daniel Drake Holland by three votes, was appointed to fill the other Ward 1 seat that was vacant.

The complete recap of the meeting can be found on the Branson Tri-Lakes News Website.
