A need for a local congregation to expand plus the interest in refurbishing a historic one-room school house in southern Taney County will culminate with a celebration this weekend.
The Pine Top Schoolhouse, located on current State Highway JJ south of Kirbyville and just north of the Missouri-Arkansas boarder, is now going to be a second home for the Acts of Shepherd Gathering Church The Church, along with the Society of Ozarkian Hillcrofters and the Schoolhouse Trustees, but together an effort through volunteers to fix up schoolhouse for a second location for the church while continuing to use the Sycamore Log Church north of Branson.
Curtis Copeland, Chair of the Ozarkian Hillcrofters, talked about the church refurbishing and the event to celebrate its opening on Thursday's "Ozarks Now" program on KRZK. Copeland said this Sunday will be the celebration of the completion which will include the first church service at 10:00 am followed by lunch available for purchase courtesy of Kim's BBQ Shack. Live music will begin at that time and continue after the ribbon cutting and comments from guest speakers at 1:00 pm with the event wrapping up by 5:00.
