The Missouri Department of Public Safety has given Silver Dollar City the greenlight to reopen the Frisco Silver Dollar Train after an accident caused the trail to come slightly off the track and detach two cars from the train.
In a statement posted by Ozarks First, investigators determined that a single wheel and single axle caused Thursday’s incident according to Public Safety Communications Director Mike O’Connell.
The investigators from the Department's Amusement Ride Safety Unit were at the theme park Friday afternoon and inspected the train which led to the discovery of the cause. The investigators also interviewed witnesses as well as inspecting the train, cars and track.
O'Connell also tells Ozarks First that the derailment was classified as an incident instead of a crash.
As of Saturday morning, no information has been released by Silver Dollar City regarding the status of the train for today.
