A round of severe thunderstorms got the Independence Day Holiday Weekend started on Saturday.
Several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued for the Lakes Region Saturday which resulted in hail and heavy rain. Reports to the National Weather Service in Arkansas indicated an inch and three-quarters hail near Highway 14 east of Omaha while Missouri reports included heavy rain in Ozark County near Bakersfield going over roadways at low water crossings.
A break is in the forecast for today with mainly upper 80's for highs before 90 plus degree temperatures return Monday through midweek with scattered chances of rain including on Independence Day Tuesday. After the next system moves through on Wednesday, cooler temperatures are expected to stay in the region into next weekend.
