MISSOURI — Forbes Advisor did a study to uncover which dog breeds are the favorites nationwide and in each state by surveying 10,000 American dog owners.
According to the study, Australian shepherds ranked as the top favorite dog breed, followed by German shepherds and bulldogs.
The German Shepherd was the top favorite dog breed in 16 states (sometimes tying with another breed for first place), the highest number across the study. However, it ranked as the second most favored breed nationwide.
The Havanese was the least favored breed in the majority of U.S. states with 33 in total, occasionally tying with other breeds for the bottom spot. The German Shorthaired Pointer ranked as the second least favored, followed by the Welsh Corgi.
