Marvin C. Wolf Jr. August 6, 1937 - June 26, 2022

Marvin C Wolf Jr., 84, of Omaha passed from this life to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at home after a short battle with cancer.

Marvin was born on Friday, August 6, 1937, in Reno, Nevada to Marvin C. Wolf Sr. and Mazie Emily (Dixon) Wolf.  While traveling from California, when Marvin was in the 3rd grade, his family, on a trip to see his grandparents in DeQueen, Arkansas, passed through the Ozarks, and the family of three decided to settle in Omaha.  He graduated from Omaha in 1956, along with his high school sweetheart, Peggy Ann Downey.  Just a few weeks after graduation, they married on June 10, 1956, a marriage that lasted 62 years.

Growing up, Marvin loved to play basketball, baseball, as well as hunting and fishing with his friends which he continued even into his young adult years.  Marvin worked hard all of his life.  After high school, he hauled milk alongside his dad, and later worked for Table Rock Asphalt as a cement truck driver, then learning the trade of carpentry where he stayed busy building and remodeling houses.  In 1971, he surrendered to preach, and moved his family to Northeast Arkansas, where he enrolled in Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge.  He pastored his first church at Big Creek Baptist Church in Hooker, Arkansas.  Marvin's passion to study and preach the Word of God was vibrant as he pastored in Arkansas, Missouri, and South Dakota.  Marvin never lost his love and concern for souls, as was seen in his many mission trips to Grenada in the West Indies.  Where along with his wife Peggy, they worked in a street ministry in the winter and bible school in the summer.  Together they owned and operated Wolf Farms, raising turkeys for Butterball, and beef cattle.  He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church.

His legacy is the Godly influence he had on his family.  He was at peace to know all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of accountability were saved and he would see them all again.  Marvin modeled a life of great discipline, self-motivation and integrity before his family, his friends and acquaintances, and most importantly, his God and Savior.  He led countless souls to the Lord during his ministry and showed them how to be saved for all eternity.  Due to his health, he had to stop the things he loved to do, preaching, farming and gardening.  He loved to read God's word and sit on the porch watching his cows.  His garden was the envy of his neighbors and he always had produce to share.  He didn't really like being indoors, but he loved watching “Gunsmoke,” and he has probably seen every episode.

He was preceded in death by his soulmate Peggy; his parents; and his mother and father-in-law, John Dewey and Winnie “Goldie” (White) Downey, Sr.  As an only child he married into a family of six children, who also preceded him, sisters-in-law and their spouses, Margaret ‘Bobbitt” (Horace “Ed”) Edwards, Pat (Johnnie) Mattox, and Mary Francis (William) Taylor; brothers-in-law, John “Buddy” Downey Jr. and Cone Brooks; infant twin grandsons, Kevin and Kraig Wolf; great-grandbaby, Vernoy; and great-great-grandbaby, Brumley.

Survivors include his three sons, Greg (Jill) Wolf, of Springfield, Missouri, Keith (Lena) Wolf and Joel (Michelle) Wolf, all of Omaha, Arkansas.  He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Andrea (Scott) Morrison, Amy (Nathan) Brumley, of Omaha, Jessica (Derek) Hocfbaum of Lakeview, Arkansas, Ashley (Stephen) Hedden, Brennan (Emily) Wolf, Mackenzie Wolf (Jimmy Vrana), and Devon Wolf, all of Springfield, Missouri, and Jennefer (Jamie) Vernoy of Tucson, Arizona.  He was blessed with 16 great-grandchildren, Logan (Destany) and Aidan Brumley, Gabriel and Noah Morrison, of Omaha, Selah, Skye, Ash, and Cage Hocfbaum, Ayden, Brody and Elyse Hedden, Emery and Brooks Wolf, of Springfield, Missouri, and Judah, Jonah and Jemimah Vernoy of Tucson, Arizona.  His sisters-in-law, Dot (Tim) Jordan, of Apopka, Florida and Diane Downey, of Ash Grove, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, church families and friends.

To honor the life that Marvin lived, visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. followed by the service at 2:00 p.m., both at New Hope Baptist Church, in Omaha, on Friday, July 1, 2022, with Pastor Gary Crawford will officiate.  He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife in Lakeland Cemetery at Omaha under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.

Pallbearers will be David and Steve Arnold, Jim Marler, Clifford Methvin, Ryan Wagner and Leonard Youngblood, honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A special thanks to Kim and the staff at Legacy Hospice, Dr. Rasmussen, Red Oak Baptist Church and New Hope Baptist Church families.  In leu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Independent Gospel Missions, 990 Calkins Road, Rochester, New York 14623.
