George Bruce Nelson, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Lead Hill, Arkansas, on June 29, 2026. Born on March 16, 1944, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, George lived a life defined by hard work, adventure, and unwavering love for his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a chapter of his life he enjoyed sharing with family and friends.

George had a lifelong passion for heavy equipment and loved telling stories about operating bulldozers and the work his father did helping build much of Shawnee, Oklahoma. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the trade remained with him throughout his life.

Family meant everything to George. He cherished every opportunity to bring everyone together for barbecues, family reunions, camping trips, and days spent swimming. He loved taking photographs to preserve precious memories and especially enjoyed sharing stories with his grandchildren about his adventures on the bulldozers and his time in the Navy. George had a kind heart and a love for people that made everyone feel welcome.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Nelson and Daisy Faye Wyatt Nelson, and his siblings, Phillip Nelson and Roberta Nelson.

He is lovingly survived by his children, Janice Moore, Bruce Nelson, Kimberly Gates, and Brent Nelson; his sisters, Sherry Martin of Meeker, Oklahoma, and Nancy Robertson of Harrah, Oklahoma; his brother, Bobby Nelson of Fayetteville, Arkansas; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, held

George will be remembered for his warm smile, his stories, his generous spirit, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the countless memories he created and in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A service was held at the New Hope Baptist Church located at 741 AR-14, Omaha, Arkansas on July 9, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. followed by military honors and interment at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at 5201 S. Southwood Rd., Springfield, Missouri at 1:00 p.m.
