Helen "Lorene" (Mease) Lowry age 96
Helen "Lorene" (Mease) Lowry age 96, passed away peacefully on July l0th, 2026, at the Forsyth Nursing Home in Forsyth, Mo. Born on December 9th, 1929, in Reeds Spring, MO, she was one of twelve children born to the late Eugene and Hazel (Stewart) Mease.
In 1956 Lorene met and married the love of her life Bill Lowry. Together they shared a devoted marriage of 63 years on their family farm in Kirbyville, MO.
Lorene's life was defined by her industrious spirit and her love of nurturing others. As a young girl growing up in Reeds Spring, she learned the value of hard work by helping at her grandfather’s canning factory. Her passion for food and community followed her into adulthood; she worked as a cook in several local restaurants and spent several years feeding generations of children as a cook at Kirbyville Elementary School.
Beyond her professional work, Lorene was an exceptional homemaker. She expressed her creativity through meticulous needlework and possessed a legendary green thumb. Every year she cultivated and put out a beautiful vegetable garden. Above all, Lorene’s greatest joy was her family. She loved nothing more than cooking a warm meal and spending quality time surrounded by her family and friends.
Lorene was preceded in death by her husband Bill Lowry and her parents Eugene and Hazel Mease. Brothers F. I., G. C., Ronnie and Harold Mease. Sisters Phyllis Wiley, Rosella Butler, Janice Hicks and Joann Hicks. Two son-in-laws, H. G. Hammons and Harvey Schneider, and one grandson John Hammons.
She is survived by one brother Jim Mease and wife Fern of Wheelerville; two sisters Naomi Combs of Forsyth Nursing Home, and Judy Maggard and husband Harold of Nixa, MO. Five daughters Brenda Hammons of Excelsior Springs; Glenda Sommers of Independence; Venita Lowry-Schneider of Springfield; Cleta Lowry of Kirbyville; Susan Houston and husband Gary of Forsyth. One son David Lowry and wife Kathy of Kirbyville. Her legacy lives on through thirteen grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home in Branson Mo. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 am with Jim Fullerton officiating. Interment will be in Edwards Cemetery, Kirbyville.
