James Francis “Jim” Parks, age 77, of Branson
James Francis “Jim” Parks, age 77, of Branson, Missouri, passed away on August 4, 2026, after a life marked by service, dedication, and devotion to his family and community.
Jim was born on August 29, 1948, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to James and Mary (Schafer) Parks. He grew up in Scottsbluff and attended elementary school at St. Agnes before graduating from Scottsbluff Senior High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Chadron State College and later completed a master’s degree in health care administration at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. His education laid the foundation for a career defined by leadership, responsibility, and a steady commitment to helping others.
Jim was united in marriage to Jane (Spittler) Parks on May 27, 1972, in Bayard, Nebraska. Their marriage was a lasting partnership built on love and commitment. Jim is survived by his wife, Jane of Branson; his son, Jeremy Parks, and wife Courtney of Pacific City, OR; his brother, Tom Parks, and wife Michele of Scottsbluff, NE; and his grandson, Alexander Parks of Eugene, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Parks.
Jim proudly served over eight years in the military, including service in United States Navy during the Vietnam War and the Nebraska National Guard. After his time in the Navy, he continued serving his community in a variety of roles. He served as a reserve police officer in Coronado, California, as an officer with the Chadron Police Department, and later became a deputy sheriff in Scotts Bluff County. Jim also helped establish the security program at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska followed by a role as a facilities manager where his initiative and leadership made a lasting impact. His career continued as Chief Information Officer for Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska. After retiring, Jim moved to Branson in 2014 with his wife Jane.
Jim was a faithful member of Branson United Methodist Church and valued the fellowship and friendship he found there. He also enjoyed numerous hobbies including being a volunteer firefighter, amateur radio operator, and a private pilot. Those who knew Jim will remember his love for Christ and his family, his strong work ethic, and his commitment to service.
Services will be held at the Branson United Methodist Church, 1208 W. 76 Country Blvd, Branson on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am with full military honors. Private interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Services are in the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory.
