James Hunt, born September 14, 1951, in Protem, Missouri,

James Hunt, born September 14, 1951, in Protem, Missouri, passed away on April 18, 2026, in Taneyville, Missouri. James was a lifelong resident of the area, attending Taneyville schools and graduating from Forsyth High School. He went on to serve his country with honor, joining the Army in 1970. He bravely served in Vietnam from July 29, 1970, to July 27, 1973.

After returning home, James built a career as an outside salesman for a lumber company. On May 29, 1974, he married his beloved wife, Cherree Roberts, in Taneyville. Together, they built a loving family and community life.

James was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in fishing and hunting mushrooms. He treasured time spent in nature and shared these passions with family and friends.

James is survived by his wife, Cherree Hunt of Taneyville; two sons, Jason Hunt & wife Beth of Kissee Mills and Darran Hunt of Taneyville along with three grandchildren who will cherish his memory always.  He is also survived by his brother, Stoney Reece of Springfield, Virgil Reece & wife Rhonda of Cedarcreek, Sonny Reece & wife Kim of Cleveland, MO; sisters, Patty Walker & husband Jerry of Alabama and Lisa McGauley & husband Tim of Cedarcreek as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Minnie (Anderson) Hunt; brothers, Roma Hunt and Ramey Hunt; sisters, Argie Johnson and Darlene Herd; nephew, J.R. Anderson and niece, Alisha Johnson.

James will be remembered for his service to his country, his love of the outdoors, and his devotion to his family and friends.

Cremation arrangements were in the care of Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel.
