Jeanette MaryAnn Karschnik
Jeanette MaryAnn Karschnik was born September 11, 1937 in Truman, MN to Harold and Isabella Breitbarth. Raised on a farm, she attended rural one-room schools until she entered high school and graduated in 1955. In 1957 she married Gordon Sodeman and they had three children.
Jeanette was office manager at her hometown newspaper for 11 years and also wrote for other papers. She sold Stanley Home Products and was an EMT, both for 14 years in Lewisville, MN.
She was active in her church’s Sunday school and ladies aid, her community and the American Legion Auxiliary of which she was a life member.
Following her husband's death she moved to Forsyth in December 1989 and worked at Branson Wal-Mart from June 1990 to January 2004.
She married Ernest Karschnik, also of MN at Forsyth United Methodist Church on August 25, 1990.
Her hobbies included quilting, crafting, reading, watching NASCAR, cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals and exercising with her friends for many years.
Jeanette entered into rest on May 19, 2026 at the age of 88.
Surviving are her husband, Ernie Karschnik of Forsyth; her children, Gloria Schmitz of Jackson, MN and Gregory and Michelle Sodeman of Walterboro, SC; grandchildren, Brooke Helget, Chuck Sodeman, Ashley, Andrew and Brittany Sodeman, Aaron Sodeman, Ian Schmitz and Alexis Miles; great-grandchildren Devon, Noah, Elle and Hannah Helget, Oliver and Aaliyah Fleurinord and Aria Sodeman; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother Enos and Charlotte Breitbarth of Fairmont, MN; along with four step-daughters, nine step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Susan Nelson; and one brother, Melvin Breitbarth.
Services will be Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at the Forsyth United Methodist Church, 14399 US-160, Forsyth, MO. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson under the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.
