John Max Schroedter
John Max Schroedter, known as Max by family and friends, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, after facing health struggles in recent years.
Born on March 1, 1954, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Max grew up in Waynesboro and graduated from Waynesboro High School. He began his career in Texas, where he managed the lawn and garden center at Woolco for twenty years. Following the company's closure, he transitioned into construction, applying his trademark skill, determination, and ambition to become a successful general contractor.
Max later returned to his roots in Pennsylvania, where he lived and built homes for many years. He eventually relocated to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he lived and worked for two decades, building strong community ties and lasting memories. In May of 2019, feeling called by the Lord to join the ministry at Faith Life Church, Max and his devoted wife, Sharon, moved to their home in Branson, Missouri.
A faithful believer in Christ, Max was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon Schroedter of Branson; his daughter, Beki Bailey and her husband Dan of Virginia Beach, along with granddaughters Paige and Eliza; his son, Chris Picking and his wife Sarah of Virginia Beach, along with granddaughters Ellie and Zoey; and his brothers, Pete Schroedter (wife Karen) and Bill Schroedter (wife Suzanne). He is also remembered fondly by the staff of Ascend at Aurora care facility, especially Kelly, who provided him with exceptional, compassionate care.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Max Schroedter and Jane (Bollinger) Schroedter.
