A Branson man is in the Taney County Jail after he brought a minor female from Illinois who he had been communicating with online.
Daniel Novak is facing two counts of statutory sodomy with a person less than 14 years of age and with first-degree statutory rape with a person less than 14 years of age after he admitted to having had explicit conversations with her online. He admitted to authorities that he had a person help him bring her to Branson for her Illinois home on the pretense that they were helping her escape from an abusive family.
Novak said he believed that the female minor, who is under 14-years-old according to court documents, was 15 or 16 years-old. While at first denying it, he later admitted to having inappropriate contact with the minor.
Novak is being held without bond.
