The National Weather Service continues adding advisories for the weekend winter storm approaching the Lakes Region. (Update 8:00 am 1/22)
The National Weather Service has now put parts of northern Arkansas under a Winter Storm Warning. The warning area includes Carroll and Madison Counties and begins Friday afternoon.
A Cold Weather Advisory will be in place from Midnight Friday night until Noon Saturday for the Missouri Lakes Region. Very cold wind chills as low as 14 below zero are expected with snow ongoing at the time adding to travel hazards. Currently, the NWS has a Cold Weather Watch in effect for the Arkansas portion of the Lakes Region.
The Winter Storm Watch goes into effect for Arkansas Friday afternoon and for Missouri Friday evening through Sunday morning. Current projections call for snow totals from six to eight inches with locally higher amounts possible. Snow will taper off by Sunday morning though cold temperatures will remain through Monday.
