With the new bridge now complete, the old Highway 86 Bridge over Table Rock Lake at Long Creek is in the process of being brought down.
The Missouri Department of Transportation announced early last week that the road would be closed on Highway 86 for a short time on Wednesday February 26 to move equipment, however crews also detonated part of the old bridge during that time.
In an interview with the Branson Tri-Lakes News, MoDOT Senior Communications Specialist Regan Mitchell said it was the first of three scheduled detonations of the bridge to remove it. The other two detonations have yet to be scheduled according to Mitchell.
The old bridge was built in 1956 and remained open until the new bridge, which began construction in 2022, was finished and opened to traffic last December.
More details on the bridge demolition can be found on the Branson Tri-Lakes News Website.
