Drought Persists in Lakes Region

Rain last weekend around the Lakes Region helped slow the Drought for some, but most areas remain at a high level according to this week’s information from the U.S. Drought Monitor.

The majority of the Lakes Region, including both the Branson and Harrison areas, remain at a Severe Drought Level while the hardest hit parts of the region continue to be in Arkansas, with Searcy County and southern Marion County at an Extreme Level. 

Western Newton County and all of Madison County in Arkansas remain at a Moderate Level while an area of heavier rain that hit southeast Taney and northwestern Ozark Counties in Missouri has reduced drought there to Moderate Level. 

Except for a slight chance of rain this evening, no other precipitation is in the forecast for the next seven days.
