A process that has been ongoing for several months reached a conclusion last week as the Forsyth Board of Aldermen voted unanimously to impeach and remove Mayor Julie Aubuchon from office.
The two-day impeachment hearing included testimony from several current and former city employees claiming that Aubuchon had created a hostile work environment and had failed to properly conduct herself in office. A total of five Articles of Impeachment were submitted and approved by the board which led to the final vote last Friday for her removal in office.
The City of Forsyth conducted the Impeachment Trial in the Council Chambers, though segments of the meeting were not streamed on the City's Facebook Page due to technical issues. A recap of the some of the charges and testimony can be found on the City of Forsyth Facebook Page plus in a recap story on the KY-3 News Website.
On her Facebook Page, Aubuchon says the proceedings are politically motivated and does plan to appeal the decision in court.
