Missouri's Attorney General issues a warning for the public to be aware of scams that take advantage of the need to stay cool during summertime heat.
Catherine Hanaway posts on Facebook that the public needs to stay alert for scams, verify contractors wanting to due work, and never rush into costly repairs.
Some of the scams to be alert for according to Hanaway include:
-Being oversold on surplus refrigerant.
-Being told that you AC needs recharging when units don't require routine recharging.
-Being offered services and unrealistically low prices.
-Being on the lookout for false claims or premature payment requests.
-Being on the lookout for unnecessary part replacements.
Those in Missouri who suspect a scam can contact the Missouri A.G. Office at 800-392-8222 while residents of Arkansas or other states can contact their A.G. office or other law enforcement agencies.
