Beating a Friday 6:00 pm deadline by just a few hours, Missouri Lawmakers sent a budget to Governor Mike Parson as outlined by law.
The budget had to be to the Governor’s office by the deadline to avoid a special session which has happened only once in the state’s history.
According to an Associated Press report, the budget totals around $150 billion and includes increase spending in education plus funds allocated to expand Interstate 44 in several areas including around Springfield. Local road projects also got funding in this year’s budget.
Governor Parson will now review the budget and sign as is or could propose some changes which would have to be approved by the legislature during a special session in the summer. The Fiscal Year in Missouri begins July 1st.
