The Speed Limit for rural sections of Missouri Interstate Highways could be raised later this year.
A bill that passed the Missouri Legislature this session would increase the speed limit form 70 to 75 MPH on parts of interstate highways in Missouri, including I-44 which goes through southwest Missouri.
Originally the bill had included other provisions including the elimination of most Vehicle Safety Inspections though several lawmakers along with Governor Mike Kehoe opposed that section of the bill which led to its removal.
According to Ozarks First, if Governor Kehoe signs the legislation, the raised speed limit would still require the approval of the state’s Transportation Commission.
