Missouri to host nuclear summit for energy future

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources announced the State of Missouri has been chosen to be a part of the in-state nuclear summit. The National Governor’s Association (NGA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced the selection on April 7th.

“It’s imperative for Missouri to develop new sources of reliable energy to serve our businesses, communities and citizens,” Governor Kehoe said. “Missouri’s current nuclear fleet consists of a single reactor at the Callaway Energy Center, which generates 14% of in-state electricity.”

NGA and DOE will supply technical assistance and will aid the State of Missouri in strategic planning. The goal of the summit is to bring awareness to transforming existing conceptual plans for new nuclear deployment in Missouri.
