MODOT Hosts Public Meeting on Swan Creek Bridge Replacement in Forsyth

A bridge that has been in use for 75 years is slated to be replaced.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is holding a Public Meeting on the replacement of the Highway 160/Swan Creek Bridge near Shadow Rock Park in Forsyth. 

The meeting will take place on August 18 at the Forsyth Municipal Building between 4:30 and 6:00 pm. 

According to the release from MODOT, it will be a come and go meeting with officials on hand to answer questions about the project. 

The current Swan Creek Bridge was originally opened in November of 1951. It is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places and MODOT has issued an invitation for organizations to obtain the bridge for future use once the new bridge is completed. 

The bidding period for construction companies interested in building the new bridge will begin in December and awarded in January of 2027. Construction is expected to begin in the Spring of 2027 and completed by the end of 2028. 

The new bridge will be located to the north of the current structure. Highway 160 and the bridge will remain open for most of the project with occasional short-term closures as needed.
