Nixa Mayor Brian Steele will remain in office after a vote to recall him failed.
Ozarks First reports that two-thirds of the over 3200 people that cast a ballot favored keeping Steele in office. A recall move had been started by a group of citizens after they objected to a Mask Mandate Steele had enacted during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Steele's term in office runs until April of 2023.
Elsewhere in Christian County voters in Highlandville narrowly pass a Use Tax Issue while voters in Saddlebrooke, which includes residents in both Christian and Taney Counties, turned down a similar measure.
Among the other issues that passed included a Public Safety Tax in Lawrence County and a Park Tax in the City of Mount Vernon.
