A pet cougar that had been kept in a home in the Bronx, New York is now at the Turpentine Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs.
According to a release from Turpentine, Sasha is an 80 pound 11-month-old Mountain Lion that was owned by a person living in the Bronx who contacted officials at the refuge center. The owner worked with Turpentine as well as with officials from the Bronx Zoo, the Humane Society of the United States, New York City Police, and the Department of Environmental Conservation to get the pet cougar to her new home.
According to the release, Sasha is getting a round of vaccinations before being released into the habitat of the refuge.
