As temperatures warm up and pool season begins, the City of Branson is reminding Branson sewer customers that residential customers may qualify for a sewer bill adjustment when filling a swimming pool.
Under Sec. 90-30(h) of the City ordinance, customers may request a sewer account adjustment once per year by completing a Sewer Service Exemption for Swimming Pools form.
Because pool water typically does not enter the sewer system, qualifying customers may receive an adjustment equal to the volume of water used to fill their pool.
To qualify:
• The swimming pool must drain to the ground
• The pool cannot be connected to the City sewer system
• The pool must have been filled during the same year the adjustment is requested
This adjustment is generally available to residential pool owners. Commercial pools typically do not qualify because they are required to discharge water into the public sewer system for treatment.
Customers interested in applying can fill out the Sewer Service Exemption for Swimming Pools form.
The City’s Utilities Department is happy to help answer questions or provide additional information about the adjustment process. Customers can contact the Utilities Department at 417-337-8529 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
