Stone County Candidate Forum Next Week

Stone County Voters will get a chance to hear from candidates in contested races next week.

The release below is from the Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce:

Three respected area organizations are partnering to provide Stone County voters with an opportunity to hear directly from candidates before the upcoming primary election. The Stone County Candidate Forum will be held Thursday, July 16, at 5:30 p.m. at New Testament Christian Church in Reeds Spring. The event is being organized by the Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce, Stone County Library and Discover Crane.

All candidates for Stone County Presiding Commissioner and Stone County Clerk, the two contested county primary races, were invited to participate. The forum will give candidates an opportunity to discuss their qualifications, priorities and perspectives on issues that affect Stone County and its residents. One candidate for presiding commissioner, Kelly Power, has declined to participate.

Anna Evans, vice president of Show-Me Christian County, an economic development organization serving Christian County, will moderate the forum.

“Local elections have a direct impact on the services our residents receive, the decisions that shape our communities and the future of Stone County,” said Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Sheila Thomas. “This forum gives voters the opportunity to hear from the candidates in the same setting, consider their responses and make a more informed decision at the ballot box.”

Citizens will have the opportunity to submit written questions at the event. Questions about the forum or information about submitting a question may be directed to the Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce at 417-739-2564.

The forum is open to the public, and Stone County residents are encouraged to attend.
