Just over a week after record cold pushed into the area for the Christmas Holiday, the start of the new year could see stormy weather.
National Weather Service Forecasters say some heavy rain plus severe weather could impact the Lakes Region Monday afternoon into evening. Rainfall amounts currently are forecast to range from an inch to an inch and a half while there is a slight risk of strong to severe storms to accompany the rain. Heavy rain could cause some localized flooding in some low lying areas as well.
Most of the rain will be out of the region by overnight Monday into Tuesday with some colder temperatures expected in the region for the middle of the week.
