Update: Flood Watch, Warning in Effect for Lakes Region

Slow moving heavy rain has prompted watches and warnings from the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service Offices in Springfield and Little Rock have posted a Flood Watch impacted both the Branson and Harrison areas into Friday morning.  Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations according to the NWS Statement.

In addition, areas in both Arkansas and Missouri are under Flash Flood Warnings for the remainder of the afternoon. That warning includes Marion as well as northeastern Boone and Searcy Counties in Arkansas along with eastern Taney and western Ozark Counties in Missouri. Eastern sections of Lake Taneycomo as well as western sections of Bull Shoals Lake are part of the warned area as as the towns of Diamond City, Flippin, Lead Hill, and Yellville in Arkansas in addition to Bradleyville, Forsyth, Protem, and Theodosia in Missouri. 

Parts of the warned area has already seen three to five inches of rain with precipitation to continue through the day.
