As Winter Storm Fern makes its approach to the Ozarks, the National Weather Service continues to update and revise the weather predictions and statements.
As of 3:30 pm Thursday, here are the current Warnings and Advisories set to begin on Friday:
Winter Storm Warning
The first Winter Storm Warning goes into effect for Northern Arkansas at 12:00 Noon with the Missouri Ozarks going under the warning at 6:00 pm. The warnings will be in effect until Sunday afternoon.
Extreme Cold Warning
The Arkansas Lakes Region will be under an Extreme Cold Warning from Midnight Friday through Noon on Monday. Wild Chills of 15 below zero are possible during this time.
Extreme Cold Advisory
This advisory is for the Missouri Lakes Region from Midnight Friday to Noon Monday. The conditions are similar to in Arkansas with Wind Chills at 15 below zero or lower.
Current predictions from the NWS indicate Snowfall Amounts in the 8 to 14 inch range and coming in two waves, the first Friday night into Saturday then another late in the day Saturday into early Sunday morning.
Colder air will arrive prior to the snow with high temperatures only in the 20's Friday then in the teens over the weekend. Low temperatures will drop below freezing Sunday night into Monday.
