The Food and Drug Administration has an active role in a recent initiative unveiled by the U.S. Department of Health.
The FDA announces in its website actions to accelerate and modernize clinical research across the full continuum of drug development as outlined in Operation TrialBlazer, a HHS initiative.
The FDA states that the goal is to keep the U.S. as the global standard for pharmaceutical innovation and regulatory rigor for the benefit of American patients and innovators. The agency plans to accomplish this goal by clarifying and where needed eliminating some of the burdens that slow testing down while at the same time keeping safety standards in place.
The HHS Release adds that this process can slow the number of early stage clinical testing that has gone overseas which threatens the U.S. leadership in this field.
