College of the Ozarks will host its annual 9-11 Ceremony on campus on Monday.

Details from the press release below:

On Monday at 9 a.m., College of the Ozarks will hold a special ceremony to commemorate the lives of those who perished in the terrorist attacks that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony.

The ceremony will be held at the Lest We Forget 9/11 Memorial located next to the Point Lookout Fire Department on James Forsythe Drive on the College of the Ozarks campus.

Special guest speaker, Dr. Nathan Harness, is a World Trade Center survivor. On the morning of the attacks, he was working on the 61st floor of the South Tower. Firefighters, police officers, rescue personnel, and numerous civilians sacrificed their lives to save his life that day. Harness has the honor of remembering those sacrifices by sharing the stories of heroism and God’s providence amid tragedy.

The ceremony will include a welcome by Dr. Brad Johnson, College of the Ozarks president, music from the College of the Ozarks Concert Band, the raising of the 9/11 National Remembrance Flag, a special presentation by the fifth-grade students at the College’s S. Truett Cathy Lower School, and special remarks by Dr. Nathan Harness.

“College of the Ozarks is intentional about involving students in such importance remembrances to help them learn, so that we never forget,” said Valorie Coleman, public relations director. “This ceremony is also a great opportunity for members of the community to come together in remembrance with the entire campus family.”
