Area Counties Among 14 in Arkansas to Benefit From Reproductive Health Education Grant

Three area counties are included in a program to help woman in rural Arkansas Counties.

According to a press release, the University of Arkansas of Medical Sciences will administer a grant from a private donor in the amount of $431,000 to provide contraceptives, prenatal health care and reproductive health education to women in 14 Arkansas counties, including Carroll, Madison, and Newton Counties. 

The release goes on to say that "UAMS aims to eliminate barriers women may currently experience when trying to receive contraception, such as transportation, costs and language and cultural barriers."

UAMS will administer the grant from its Institute for Community Health Innovation by deploying mobile health unit vehicles equipped to provide services such as health screenings, prenatal care services and vaccinations.
