Arkansas State Police Investigate Possible Homicide

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has requested the Arkansas State Police’s (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division to lead an investigation into a suspected homicide in Yellville.

The ASP said 86-year-old Christopher Smith was found dead in his residence by a family member at 617 Broadway Tuesday around noon. The ASP says Smith was the victim of an apparent gunshot wound.

Special agents of the state police are still in Marion County collecting evidence and following leads in the case.
