The Taney County Health Department says that the number of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) is the county has increased over the last three years.
Kara Miller and Sharon Turney of the health department say during the latest edition of the "At Your Service" Podcast that the cases increased four-fold from the end of 2018 through 2021 with the majority of those cases being Syphillis. Turney added that the disease is a tricky one to diagnose because it has few symptoms. The infection is treatable but can lead to major health problems if it is not diagnosed.
