Branson Aldermen Give Initial Approval Next Segment of Underground Utility Project

The Branson Board of Aldermen Tuesday gives initial approval to resume the placement of Utilities underground along a segment of the Branson Strip.

The 76 Entertainment Community Improvement District has agreed to pay the needed money for the city to resume the project started several years ago to get the utilities along 76 Country Music Blvd. moved underground as part of a long range plan to improve the look of people driving and walking on the Strip.

“I think everyone is really excited to do something,” Gail Myer, chairman for the 76 Entertainment Community Improvement District (CID) tells Ozarks First. “We’ve talked about this for a long, long time and now it’s about time to put the rubber to the road and start implementing all of that discussion, all of that planning that we’ve done to this point.”

The CID has collected tax money in that district over the last five years to fund this and other improvements along the strip.

The City is expected to give final approval to this agreement at their July 27 meeting and still must approve contracts with local utilities for the project to proceed. The expected time for the company to get materials to begin the project is three to six months.
