The final meeting of the Branson Board of Aldermen in June featured updates from the departments involved in public safety.
First up was a report from the Taney County Health Department delivered by their Director Lisa Marshall. Her report included statistics on the number of immunization shots administered which totaled over 5,000 in 2024. She also discussed the W.I.C. Program (Women, Infants, and Children) and how it has helped family with nutrition education for families with children five years old or younger plus expectant mothers.
The second update came from the city's Fire and Rescue Department with Chief Ted Martin talking about 2024 including the opening of the new Fire Station Number and the hiring of 12 firefighters to help man that facility. Martin said that fire station location has helped improve response times in that area which includes Pointe Royale. Martin also discussed the department's efforts to improve their I.S.O. (Insurance Services Organization) which currently sits at a 3.
The third update was from Branson Police Chief Eric Schmitt who listed some of their 2024 statistics. Schmidt said that while overall safety calls for service were slightly down for the year which include fire calls, the actual police calls were slightly up due to being fully staffed and able to be proactive in enforcing laws. Schmitt said one area of proactive policing was the number of traffic violations which has doubled over two years.
The complete reports from each department can be seen on the video of the June 24 Branson Board of Aldermen Meeting through the City of Branson Website.
