Rates for Branson residents using city water and sewer are going to increase for the coming year but not as much as the staff of the Branson Utilities Department believed they needed operation of the department in the coming year.
The initial request from the department was for a 20% increase in water rates and a 15% increase in sewer rates for both residential and commercial customers. It would have given the average residential customers a $4.42 increase for water and $3.02 on sewer for 5,000 gallons of usage. The average bill would have been $26.51 for water and $23.13 for sewer each month.
Utilities Director Kendall Powell provided the aldermen with a history of the water and sewer rates including a 2010 study by an outside firm to recommend the rates and improvements or changes which needed to be made, which was reviewed by the outside firm in 2015 and 2025.
