Branson's aldermen voted down a proposed amendment to increase how many days people can set off fireworks in the city.
Branson Fire Chief Ted Martin delivered that proposal during the board's Special Meeting on Tuesday. Each alderman said constituents contacted them expressing preference not to approve the extension. It would have allowed for people to discharge fireworks in Branson from July 2 through July 6.
That's longer than the norm, July 3 through July 4. Martin explained the reason for the desired expansion was to support the sale of fireworks in Missouri. That's a period that stretches from June 20 to July 10.
