Branson Board Gives Go Ahead for New Police Facility

A new police facility for Branson is one step closer to happening.

The Branson Board of Aldermen approves measures at Tuesday night’s meeting to move forward with the renovation of the White House Theater to convert into a new Police Headquarters Building.

The board approve on both readings the budget amendment to begin the nearly $16 million project.

According to the timeline presented, construction on the project should begin in July with a completion date anticipated by the end of 2025.

Several members of the public stopped by City Hall prior to the meeting to see some of the renderings and drawings for the facility.

During an interview earlier in the day on both Legends 1063 and MY 100.1, Public Works and Engineering Director Michael Woods said the new facility would give the police over 42,000 square foot of space and allow the department to properly accommodate the entire department plus also give the Branson Fire Department additional space. Woods said while the goal is to have the station done by the beginning of 2026, the contractors on the project feel they can be done before the end of 2025.

The new building on Gretna Road would replace the current Police Headquarters space at City Hall.

The video of the Tuesday Board of Alderman Meeting can be found on the City of Branson Website while the interviews with Michael Woods can be found on "The Upside" and "Ozarks Now" Facebook pages.

Branson Police Chief Eric Schmidt discusses the new facility with Joshua Pineda of Ozarks First.
