A Branson man is facing jailtime after from fleeing from a traffic stop in December.

Court documents indicate Elijah Greenwood is facing a felony charge after leading a Missouri State Highway Patrol Officer on a high speed pursuit after the Trooper tried to pull Greenwood over due to his motorcycle not having license plates.

According to the probable cause statement, the trooper initially tried to make the traffic stop on W. 76 County Blvd. when Greenwood turned onto Little Pete Road and accelerated eventually going onto Shepherd of the Hills Expressway. For safety reasons, the trooper did not try to initiate a stop but continued to pursue the motorcycle through Branson and across the Lake Taneycomo Bridge through the Hollister Roundabout. The Trooper did then tried to initiate the traffic spot as the motorcycle was traveling east on Highway 76. Greenwood sped up again, this time reaching speeds of over 100 MPH until eventually turning onto Twin Oaks Road and crashing the motorcycle. The statement indicates that Greenwood was questioned by the Trooper on why he fled, and he stated the motorcycle belonged to a friend who told him to flee if pulled over due to no plates on the bike.

While Greenwood faces minor charges on the lack of registration on the motorcycle, fleeing law enforcement is a felony which could result in at least a year in jail if convicted.

Greenwood is out on bond and will have his next appearance in Taney County Circuit Court on January 20.
