CBCO Needs Donations This Week After Last Week's Winter Weather

The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is in need of Blood Donations after last week's winter weather cost the center over 500 donations.

Chris Pilgrim, Media Relations Representative with the CBCO, says during Monday's "Ozarks Now" Program on KRZK that all blood drives in the region were cancelled Wednesday through Friday with the Blood Centers in Springfield, Joplin, Bentonville, and Springdale also closed down due to weather at the end of the week. 

Pilgrim said the rise in donations prior to the winter weather helped get the hospitals in southwest Missouri, northwest Arkansas, and southeast Kansas the blood they needed but they need residents to donate over the next couple of weeks to get the reserve back up to a three-day supply. 

Area Blood Drives on Tuesday will be held at the Elks Lodge in Kimberling City from 12 to 6 pm and at the Inn of the Ozarks in Eureka Springs from 1 to 6 pm. Aurora High School is also hosting a Blood Drive on Tuesday with other drives coming up in Berryville, Hollister, Monett, Ozark, and Reeds Spring over the next month.

  • Hollister Schools Foundation donates $4,000 for Therapy Dog

    The Hollister Schools Foundation has presented a $4,000 check to the Hollister R-V School District, funds raised during last spring’s "Coins for a Cause" fundraiser. The generous donation will be used to help purchase two therapy dogs for the district, set to debut at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. The check was presented to Superintendent Dr. Brian Wilson and Assistant Superintendent of District Operations, Dr. Sean Woods, by foundation board members Katie Adams, Ryan Gdovin, and Denise Olmstead.
