CDBG grant allows Bull Creek to upgrade water system

The Village of Bull Creek is getting a large boost to their water system thanks to a $914,028 grant from the Missouri Department of Economic Development’s Community Development Block Grant program.

The village applied for the grant to bring a second well online for the water system allowing the village staff to better control the supply and help ease the strain of maintenance of the system.

Village Clerk Aaron Durso said the idea of a secondary well was first explored by the village a decade ago, but all the grants they uncovered required matches of 25% to 40%, significantly more than the village would have been able to pay. They had worked with Toth Engineering on the initial plan a decade prior and were surprised to find out many years later when the COVID-19 era ARPA grants were being made available Toth had kept the plans for a secondary well despite it looking like the project wasn’t going to take place.
