Charges Dropped in Taney County Shooting

Charges have been dropped against a man accused in the shooting death of a person near Rockaway Beach.

Taney County Prosecutor Brad Hughes tells Ozarks First that the charges against Bryce Fausett have been dropped after it was determined that Fausett "acted within the scope of the law" in the incident that happened on September 12.

According to the probable cause affidavit that had been submitted by the Taney County Sheriff's Office, Fausett shot at a man who attacked him when that man had come to pick up a visitor at the residence on Molly Lane. Fausett produced a handgun and shot in the direction of the victim who eventually got the handgun away from Fausett and left. The victim, who apparently had been hit by at least one of the shots, drove away but wrecked the vehicle a short distance from the house where he died. 

The name of the victim was not listed in the probable cause affidavit.
