The City of Branson has approved and extension of the Historic Downtown Branson Community Improvement District.
A process that began in March concluded with Tuesday's vote of the Board of Aldermen. The district has been extended three years and will continue to finance and operate the downtown trolly system while this extension will also broaden the scope of the CID to includes areas like landscaping. The two sides are exploring even further expansion and will continue discussions during the next three years.
The CID was originally approved by the City in 2006 and was set to expire next April without an extension. The proposal originally was brought before the board earlier this year but the CID Board withdrew it to explore expansion with several periods of discussion culminating with the approval.
Along with the CID approval, the board continue taking action on the formation of the Gretna Road and Town & Country Drive Redevelopment Plan, a multi-phase project designed to transform a key corridor of the community with an estimated $400 million investment in housing, retail, tourism, and sports.
