College of the Ozarks attractions to offer Area Appreciation

POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — The Keeter Center at College of the Ozarks will offer Area Appreciation Jan. 22 – Feb. 5 as a thank-you to the residents of the Tri-Lakes area community — Barry, Stone, Boone, and Taney counties. Visit during this time to save 25 percent on fine dining at Dobyns Dining Room, sweets and specialty coffees from the bakery, and homemade ice cream from Nettie Marie’s College Creamery. Present ID for discount.

The Keeter Center — the College’s award-winning lodge, restaurant, and conference facility — has consistently been ranked a Top Small Hotel in the U.S. by TripAdvisor. It features historic lodging, fine dining, and meeting rooms. With more than 350 student workers, it is the largest workstation on campus.

Ralph Foster Museum Area Appreciation Jan. 24 – Feb. 7

 

The Ralph Foster Museum at College of the Ozarks will offer free admission during Area Appreciation dates: Jan. 24- Feb. 7, 2023. The offer is available to those living in Stone, Taney, and Boone Counties. Present ID for discount at time of ticket purchase.

The Museum is open to the public every Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Dedicated to the history of the Ozarks region and named in honor of radio pioneer and philanthropist Ralph D. Foster, the Ralph Foster Museum is a three-story gallery housing thousands of objects representing archaeology, history, firearms, antiques, natural history, fine arts, geology, and mineralogy. The museum also houses the Beverly Hillbillies car and has one of the Midwest’s finest firearms collections.

    JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) congratulates Riley Isaacs of Bradleyville for becoming the latest state record holder for redear sunfish. The 17-year-old was bowfishing at Lake Taneycomo April 18 when he shot a 2-pound, 3-ounce fish. The previous record under alternative methods was a 2-pound, 2-ounce fish also caught from Lake Taneycomo in 2022.

  • Hollister Schools Foundation donates $4,000 for Therapy Dog

    The Hollister Schools Foundation has presented a $4,000 check to the Hollister R-V School District, funds raised during last spring’s "Coins for a Cause" fundraiser. The generous donation will be used to help purchase two therapy dogs for the district, set to debut at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. The check was presented to Superintendent Dr. Brian Wilson and Assistant Superintendent of District Operations, Dr. Sean Woods, by foundation board members Katie Adams, Ryan Gdovin, and Denise Olmstead.
